I made a suggestion a few weeks ago to a member of an anti-fracking group on Facebook that perhaps a little digging into the people behind the scenes at Cuadrilla (the Co. behind iGas) and others connected to the Barton Moss site, may find a few unsavoury types that rape more than just the land we live upon. But after a while, I figured nobody listened, so as we enter the week originally set to be the final week of exploration drilling at Barton Moss (*wonders how far back that schedule has been set!), I did it myself....
Please add any info you may have in comments below.
Let us start with:
GMP.
Back in February, The Salford Star brought coverage of the violent arrest and detention of Saffron, a 15 yr old schoolgirl. She had visited the camp to gain first hand views on the pro's and con's of Fracking. A geography project she had been set at school.
*In my day, that kind of thinking got you an extra credit or two on the project and could well snatch you a A out of the bag.
Yesterday afternoon, Saffron, a 15 year old schoolgirl from Cadishead, was arrested during the daily slow walk in front of lorries exiting the iGas exploratory drilling site at Barton Moss.
Eye witnesses and family told the Salford Star of their outrage at Greater Manchester Police actions, as officers were clearly warned that Saffron was a minor but was driven away in a police van without being accompanied by a responsible adult.
Saffron was arrested around 2pm and taken to Swinton Police Station where she was held until 8:15pm. During that time Saffron's mother was not allowed access to her daughter.[...]Now, I'm sorry, I seem to recall, from my interview last February, having seen.... *routes through files on Arrest Rights, Statements and Appropriate Adults..... Ah, here we go..
Her brother Kyle, who witnessed the arrest, said that the whole episode was "scary"…
[...]"The police officer reached out for her whilst everyone was trying to pull her away from him. He did let go at one point and said he was just going to put her in the back of the van, search her and then release her. But after doing that they closed the doors and drove off to the layby [at the bottom of Barton Moss Lane]. Everyone walked to the van and it drove off.
"Her parents weren't aware that she'd even been arrested at this time which I don't think is very fair treatment of a 15 year old girl" he explained "[...]They wouldn't tell me what they were arresting her for and they wouldn't tell me where they were taking her."
Kaylea Talbot was also with Saffron while she was being arrested…
"I could hear her shouting `Stop pushing me' and then they basically took her to the side of the road saying `You're being arrested for aggravated trespassing'. At that point everyone tried to grab her hand and tried to pull her away but we had to let go. Me and Elaine [step grandmother] went to the van but they wouldn't let an adult go with her so she wouldn't feel scared. She was just on her own crying her eyes out."
Young people under 18 and vulnerable adultsThe police must try to contact your parent, guardian or carer if you’re under 18 or a vulnerable adult. They must also find an ‘appropriate adult’ to come to the station to help you and be present during questioning and searching. An appropriate adult can be:
- your parent, guardian or carer
- a social worker
- another family member or friend aged 18 or over
The National Appropriate Adult Network provides appropriate adult services in England and Wales
- a volunteer aged 18 or over
.Then jump forward to last week, when Bez (Happy Mondays) joined the camp for a couple of chillaxed days in the clean open countryside, casually protecting and nurturing nature.
*as one does
Vanda, a mother of three young children was targeted by the iGas private army commonly known as GMP who violently detained her (for the second time in a month), without the required medical attention, before shipping her off to prison for 7 days.
Peel Holdings, iGas and Cuadrilla
Peel Holdings are a major developer in the UK and currently own major developments including airports and ports. They own thousands of acres of land which has been allocated for various undisclosed projects and a couple of windfarms. Nothing in any of their manifesto on the web site mentions Fracking, only sustainable energy sources such as wind and Hydro.
*At least their books reflect the fact they have so many Companies, in so many trade areas and industries. They declare some of their interests.
Cuadrilla currently operate under several Company names. None of the Companies are Grouped (disclose the connection to any other Co.).

The man in Europe
The President of the European Commission is the head of the European Commission ― the executive branch of the European Union(EU) ― the most powerful officeholder in the EU. The President is responsible for allocating portfolios to members of the Commission and can reshuffle or dismiss them if needed. He determines the Commission's policy agenda and all the legislative proposals it produces (the Commission is the only body that can propose EU laws).José Manuel Barroso is a member of Bilderberg and has attended the annual meeting four times, twice since he took Office in 2004.
The Commission President also represents the EU abroad, although he does this alongside the President of the European Council and, at foreign minister's level, the High Representative (who sits in his Commission as Vice-President). However the President, unlike a normal head of government, does not form foreign policy, command troops or raise taxes as these are largely outside the remit of the EU.
The post was established in 1958 and is elected by the European Parliament, on a proposal of the European Council for five-year terms. Once elected, he, along with his Commission, is responsible to Parliament which can censure him. The current President is José Manuel Barroso, who took office in October 2004. He is a member of the European People's Party (EPP) and is the former Prime Minister of Portugal. Barroso is the eleventh President and in 2009 was re-elected for a further five years. His vice-president, as of 2010, is High Representative Catherine Ashton, Baroness Ashton of Upholland. (*Former Leader of House of Lords)
Bilderberg...
The Facts
The facts are these; almost every year since 1954 up to 150 of the Western hemisphere’s most powerful people from government, politics, finance, industry, labour, education and communications have gathered in secret for a three-day conference on what’s going on in the world they essentially run. The bit that should have caught your eye there was ‘in secret’.
Secrecy and its close cousin privacy are relative terms in this age of camera phones, Facebook and GPS but the Bilderberg Bunch are doing a bloody good job of keeping theirs. They only recently started publishing the agenda and lists of attendees (the official website goes back only as far as 2010) and those that do attend do so in “a private and not an official capacity” so you won’t see it penciled in their public diaries. The only media allowed in are those that own or run it and, most importantly of all, everything discussed is off the record, on the QT and strictly hush-hush.
But why the need for all this cloak and dagger stuff, what exactly are they talking about and why shouldn’t we know about it? Ostensibly it’s all about increasing collaboration between North America and Europe so that we might continue to spread our version of capitalist democracy to countries who want it but just don’t know it yet. And that’s supposed to be a good thing. But ask yourself, do you really think, when they’re sat there together, in that hotel which they’ve entirely booked out to ensure none of us ‘normos’ can get in, do you REALLY think they’re talking about how to make life better for the rest of us? Allow me to coin a phrase won’t you? ARE THEY FUCK AS LIKE!
The Theories
Now, I’m not a conspiracy theorist – Lord knows the Internet doesn’t need anymore – but that’s only because most conspiracies theories are overwrought works of imagination and/or LSD. The truth is, I believe, much more blatant and banal. There’s no need for a Blofeld style boogieman behind the scenes when we have Michael J. Evans, Vice Chairman & Global Head of Growth Markets for Goldman Sachs (and Bilderberg Meeting attendee). He and those like him have more than enough influence and vested interests to stick a finger or five in the pie of global power and have a good old wiggle around.
But why would he want to? He’s a busy man with a big job, a hot Norwegian wife and eight (EIGHT for chrisakes!) children – because Mr Evan’s job is to maintain the status quo i.e. keep the rich rich and rest of us distracted so we don’t ask too many questions about, say, where all that money comes from. One way to achieve this aim is to move the political base so far from the people that they feel powerless to challenge it and this is where one of the most enduring conspiracy theories surrounding Bilderberg starts to appear plausible – that of the One World Government.
The One World Government
Consider this, the founder of Bilderberg, Jozef Retinger, was also a founder member of the European Movement a post-war lobby group that was instrumental in the founding of the European Union which has steadily amassed money and legislative power from sovereign nations to the point that seventeen now share the same currency (with disastrous consequences for the rest of us). It’s pretty hard to get your voice heard in Brussels when you’re shouting all the way from Greece!
Consider also that, in the latter part of the 20th century, globalization was the main aim of businesses as it enabled them to reduce costs and increase sales to a worldwide customer base. This makes pretty sound business sense but has resulted in companies bigger and more powerful than the countries they operate in so how can the governments of those countries possible stand up to them? They can’t, so they bail out the private banks with public money hoping for a seat on the board (much more influential than being a mere national MP) and leave the people to fend for themselves. It may be a massive success story but I find it rather worrying that on July 29th 2011 Apple was holding more cash than the US government.
